Dr. Louber is from Pretoria, South Africa. She did her undergrad at Hope College in Holland Michigan. She attended medical school at Wayne State University and did her residency at Ascension Via Christi in Kansas.

Originally from South Africa she was born in Cape Town and spent most of her childhood in Pretoria South Africa with her parents and siblings. As a child she remembers enjoying family trips to the ocean, camping in the Drakensburg mountains, doing ballet and playing field hockey. In 2007 due to a change in her father’s job they moved to Michigan.

Amidst the culture shock of starting high school in a new country, she became interested in the science side of medicine in her 9th grade health class. In her first year of college she realized the relational aspect of being a physician was important to her.

 

Her hobbies include dancing, rock climbing, gardening, cycling, swimming in the ocean, backpacking, ultimate Frisbee and anything outdoors.

Hometown: Hard to pick one! Born in Cape Town, South Africa, I have spent most of my life in multiple towns in South Africa and Michigan

Favorite hobbies: Dancing (swing, salsa, ballroom), Rock climbing, Hiking, Cycling, Ultimate frisbee

Favorite foods: Greek yoghurt, Indian Curries, Malva Pudding

Favorite animals: Orangutans, Elephants, and Vervet Monkeys

What do you love about the U.P.? I love the beautiful waterfalls, forests, Lake Superior, and mountains of snow 🙂 In particular I love how the UP embraces the recreational possibilities of every season.

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? When given the choice I chose Marquette! I would also love to live in the Western Cape of South Africa or the highlands of Eswatini.

What was the last movie you went to? Black Panther Wakanda Forever

What is something I wouldn’t know about you? I own a tandem bike that used to make ice cream!
