To All of My Patients:

As many of you already know, I have decided that after 37 years of practicing family medicine to retire on September 1 2023.  I will be handing the reins over to two highly qualified family doctors, Amelia Sramek and Lize Loubser.  Dr Sramek is a Marquette native who practiced family medicine with the US Navy for 10 years then worked at UPHS Bell for several years before deciding to join our private practice.  She will be starting in June 2023.  Dr Loubser is originally from South Africa, then moved to lower Michigan with her family when she was 12 years old.  She will be finishing her residency in family medicine this summer and will join us in September 2023.  We at SSFP feel extremely fortunate to have these two intelligent and well trained physicians joining our team.  Our front office will be working diligently to smoothly transition your ongoing medical care to one of these doctors.  If you have a preference for one or the other, please let us know.  Alternatively, if you are planning to transfer care to another physician we can send your records to the practice you choose.

It seems like only yesterday that, after working three years with the National Health Service Corps, I was moving back to Marquette to join the medical practice that my friend Dan Hardie and I had dreamed about when we were in residency together.  We have learned much about medicine, business, and life in general since those early years, and now it is my privilege to pass this dream on to a team of extremely competent and capable young physicians at SSFP.  They practice the full spectrum of family medicine that we have endeavored to provide since our beginning.  Rest assured that your future medical care is in very good hands.

Finally, I would like to sincerely thank all of you for entrusting me with your medical care over the years.  During our many brief (some not so brief) consultations many of you have graciously allowed me a glimpse into your personal life, filled with struggles, hopes and dreams; and in so doing have greatly expanded my appreciation and respect for the beauty we all contribute to this life. Over the years I have realized that gratitude is one of the most powerful and healing of emotions, and I owe a huge debt of gratitude to each of you for inviting me to share a part of your life, especially if you allowed me the singular pleasure of assisting as you delivered your child into this world.  I hope that I was able to be of some small service in your ongoing journey.

Best of luck,

Mark Stevens

Congratulations on your retirement Dr. Stevens
